scenes from the weekend...

the loveliest weekend. bike riding, beach going, op shopping (i'll be back later in the week with a wrap up), jam making, movie watching and quality time having.

It was just what I needed and entirely too short.

four happy things on friday

One of my resolutions for this year was to be more intentional - with my relationships, with my time and with my focus. In an effort to continue this, I will post four photos from my week of things or moments that have made me happy. I feel like I sometimes miss out on joy just because I'm not looking. Here's to changing that!

city picnics with lovely babies (this photo is a few weeks old but it makes me happy nonetheless)

...my basil is FINALLY growing!

...new vintage pillowcases

...planning the next trip :)

feet around the world. part one.

I have a foot fetish. I LOVE feet (as you can see here and here)!

For the last few years I have been (slowly) working on a lifeling project to take photos of my feet around the world. I am slowly ticking off places as I travel and one day I would love to turn my feet into a little coffee table book. I wish I had started taking feet photos on my first overseas trip but what began as a few random photos has developed into hundreds of photos and my husband's constant complaints - 'not another photo of your feet'.

Without further ado... my feet around the world.

the loveliest apron...

when I graduated from uni the very loveliest gift I received was this apron. It was given to me by my year 12 English teacher who also happens to be an all-round fabulous lady! Knowing how much I like op shops she sourced all her materials from local op shops and vintage fairs and transformed them into this masterpiece. The front pocket is a teapot cosy and the layers have been upcycled from a teatowel and a vintage dress.

It is so pretty that I don't want to use it for fear of getting it dirty; so for now it hangs in my sewing room... :)

vintage really is this best.

have a happy wednesday xx

just a minute in... february

watching... the sunsets (somehow we always have amazing evening clouds at our house). I have been trying to turn off the T.V and spend more time enjoying my own life and relationships rather than watching other peoples. That being said - 'Friends' has been getting a small workout at our house this week.

eating... BBQ dinners. It is one of the few things that the hubby will cook and I have been taking full advantage of our lovely summer evenings. Vegie and haloumi kebabs and BBQed corn on the cob - yummo!

listening to... Angus and Julia. Bliss.

reading... living and breathing 'twelfth night'. Shakespeare really was a genius but did he have to make his plays so complicated?

excited about... getting a thermomix. Oh my goodness - these machines are AMAZING! If you have one I would love to hear your thoughts on it. How often do you use it? Are they really worth the VERY hefty price tag?

what i have learnt about vegie gardening...

I picked the last of the vegies from my garden over the weekend. I still have a whole bed of herbs going strong but had to pull out a lot of the vegie plants because of all the rain we had in Brisbane over summer. We got lots of cucumber, beans, corn and carrots but didn't have a lot of success with the zucchini, tomatoes or eggplant.

Here is a list of things I learnt through my first vegie gardening experiences...

- never underestimate the power of mulch - this stuff is amazing!
- pumpkin will take over your entire one acre block if it gets half a chance!
- homegrown sweetcorn is 1000 times better than supermarket corn!
- tomatoes are best grown on a sturdy teepee... not a flimsy little stake!
- cucumbers will grow through anything!
- I cannot grow ANYTHING in pots!
- keep a gardening journal...
- there is such a thing as TOO MUCH WATER!

At the moment the vegie beds are having a little rest and we are getting ready to plant again in a few weeks time :)

I'll keep you posted... xx

p.s - hi to all my new followers :) thanks for stopping by!

rummage.

We rummaged.

It was a ridiculously hot day but fun was had nonetheless.
We sold lots of goodies.
And I bought just a few.
How gorgeous is that cannister and tablecloth that I bought from the ever so lovely laura... love love love!
I also picked up a cute little smock dress with a bow... because every dress is better with a bow :)!

my favourite time of the day...

somehow, without actually speaking our plans out loud, the husband and I have gotten into a habit of heading outside just as the night starts cooling down. We water the vegie garden, play with the puppy and chat about our day. It is a delightfully relaxing and special time away from work, the t.v and the internet and is very quickly becoming my favourite time of the day...
