in my kitchen.

. : we are thinking more about what we eat

. : we are spending a bit more money on better quality food

. : we are wasting less

. : we are baking granola and making yoghurt

. : we are feeling better

. : we are learning

. : we are eating quinoa patties from this cookbook

. : we are enjoying the preparation

. : we are reassessing our values

. : we are eating more raw food (like this yummy brownie)

. : we are creating new favourites

. : we are adding sweet potato

these aren't huge changes for us but i'm loving the power that comes with knowledge.
it is so encouraging to see husband starting to ask questions and enjoying some of the changes that are coming in and out of our kitchen...

  1. I love making changes like this too and getting my husband involved. I'm also loving that our toddler knows what's in our meal that we grew in the garden, and he points it out to us at dinner. :)

  4. The thing with food and cooking is that there is always something new to discover and learn which can be quite exciting. Though we've eaten pretty well for the past few years, there are times I have to reassess and realize we're going back to old habits (as I noticed recently). Right now I'm trying to cut out processed sugar and cut down on white flour. Enjoying the challenge so far. I have that book on order. Looks like a good one. You've reminded me that I need to make a new batch of yoghurt tonight!

  6. They may not seem like huge changes Kel but they are definitely a step in the right direction :)
Am loving the sound of the raw brownie and the fact that it only has a few ingredients makes it even better, gonna try it on the weekend.

  7. I am loving the book you sighted above. I have been trying out some new grains, have you tried Farro? i did the other day and love it. I think reviewing the way you eat and making conscience changes is a great way to not get sucked into the faster wasteful way of living.

  9. I just found you via 'A Time to Create' - your blog name drew me to you ;) what a great way to be in the kitchen. Thinking about the value of food is something that i do a lot. I hate waste - we have a pig and chooks though, so nothing ever really goes to waste - but valuing the good foods and what they do for our bodies rather than the over processed junk that our society seems to live on {I was going to write 'thrive' there, but I don't think that's the appropriate word!} is something that we should all try to do. Even the smallest bit helps! I'll definitely be trying that brownie recipe. Looking forward to reading more posts :)
